Bill Boler – Angry Black Yank
September 25 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
In June 2018, a jury awarded $4 in damages for funeral expenses, pain and suffering to a Florida family for a wrongful death suit, in which a St. Lucie County Deputy fatally shot a father of three through his garage door.
The jury found that the police were only 1% liable and the victim 99% responsible for his own death. In deciding damages in the case, the jury awarded Bryant $1 for funeral expenses, and $1 for each child’s “loss of parental companionship, instruction, and guidance and … mental pain and suffering.” As the Deputy was only 1% responsible, the verdict was reduced to 4 cents. WTF?!? How did we get to this?
Things are supposed to be getting better right? From the US to the UK, government and politicians tell us they listen to the people, business tells us through ‘CSR’ that it cares about the people and regeneration tells us that it will improve the lives of the people. So why do all the institutions and programmes that are that are supposed to bring communities together just divide us further? I’m tired of this s**t. Come listen to the rant of an Angry Black Yank.
Bill Boler and is perhaps best known for his regeneration efforts in Harlem NYC and as a result of that success, moved to the UK to work for Communities and Local Government, BITC/Business Connectors and ELBA to investigate the role of retail investment and business engagement in England’s most deprived communities, as a catalyst for regeneration.
