Angie Belcher’s Comedy Depot – JANUARY
January 26 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm£6
January’s Comedy Depot is a veritable pot pourri of funny talent.
Your headliner is Andrew O’Neil. Andrew is a universally adored yet still incredibly niche voice in comedy. He’s a heavy metal loving heterosexual transvestite vegan with a huge back catalogue of shows, TV appearances and books under his sparkly belt.
Andrew has appeared on several shows including Never Mind The Buzzcocks and has his own award winning radio 4 show -Pharmacist Baffler. He’s a regular on the comedy stage at Download, played to 5,500 people at Sonisphere, opened for Amanda Palmer from The Dresden Dolls, and has performed at comedy festivals in Adelaide, Melbourne and Wellington.
A performance polymath, he also plays guitar for steampunk band The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing. In 2017 he published his first book, A History of Heavy Metal. It was described by Alan Moore as “a comprehensive landmark analysis that has the massive advantage of the funny being turned up to twelve.”
Andrew is supported by a comedy cast of 6 stand ups including Becky Brunning, Bentley Browning, Emily McQuade, Louise Leigh, Rob Cooper and Jonny Emmett.
Funny women finalist and actor Becky Brunning, fresh from her role as Lindsay Lucas in the final series of Broadchurch will be sharing her kooky self analysis “Original, Inventive and exciting”- Sara Pascoe
Bentley Browning will be bringing uplifting and life affirming ideas from his recent 4 star Edinburgh show, Tinder Rehab- one for love addicts everywhere. “Bentley has a compelling stage presence that grabs the attention and he’s got clever ideas to keep it” – David Mullholland
